I have not posted for a while due to having the Flu and I am in the process of moving house.
However in the last 2 weeks I have done two running races a 20km (12.4 miles) and a 10 mile (16km) run. Both of which I did better than planned and only a few minutes away from my PB at these distances.
My training times have been low this last few weeks with little swimming and no cycling, in the next few weeks this should improve.
This blog will have my thoughts about training for running races and triathlons. It will also contain items about weight loss (nutrition) and general fitness.
In 2007 I completed my first Ironman triathlon at Ironman UK and therefore I am now an Ironman.
In 2009 I took part and completed my first Ultra Marathon a 39.3 Miles (63.2 Km) run.
In 2010 I completed two Ironman distance triathlons with just 1 month between them.

Weekly Update
This week I have gained 3/4 lb (0.4 Kg). I only managed 90 minutes of exercise earlier in the week due to having flu in the last part of the week and still a bit now.
Next week I will ease back into training again. I have my first road race of the year next weekend which I will take a bit easier now.

Double Running Training Session
Today I did a double training session running a total of 11 miles. This will be last long run before some road races in the next few weeks.
I left straight from work to go to the running club and did 5 miles at a comfortable pace before the club meets, at this point I had some of the isotonic drink I had made. I then did a slightly faster (20 seconds per mile) 6 mile run with some other people. The last few miles felt harder but I was able to keep up with the pace.
The air temperature was -1C (31F) when I started to run with a few degrees of that taking in to account the windchill. However I was nice and warm as I had a number of layers and hat and gloves on.

Training this week
This week I have done just under 6 hours of training.
However I had a better mixture of the three areas, about 50% running, 20% cycling and 30% swimming. The only thing that was missing this week from training was a long cycle ride and will not be able to do next week due to timing of various events I am doing.
I decided against doing on a long ride on Saturday as I had a relatively hilly cross country league race on Sunday morning.

Another Swimming Breakthrough
I had another swimming breakthrough today. I actually got up early (well for me) and went for a swim and swam a total of a mile (64 lengths of 25m pool).
That is two swimming breakthrough sessions in a week, perhaps I should go for a lie down as I don’t wont to over do the training. :-)
